The 9th International Linguistics Olympiad

The 9th International Linguistics Olympiad was held in Pittsburgh, USA from July 25 to July 30, 2011.

27 teams from 19 countries participated, with Brazil, Canada, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam sending participants for the first time.

Participants competed to solve problems on diverse languages and writing systems including Menominee, Faroese, Vai, Nahuatl, EAN-13, and Sanskrit.

The jury awarded 25 medals (4 gold, 8 silver, and 13 bronze), as well as 25 honorable mentions, 3 team contest trophies, a team cup for highest average score, and 5 best solution prizes.
